Well, in the middle of restoring my 68 Coronet 500 4-spd and out of the blue my Dad calls me up and gives me his numbers matching 68 Coronet R/T, 440 auto, buckets/console, original black on black stripe delete. My Dad special ordered this car in October 1967 and took delivery of it in Jan. 1968. This car has been in the family my entire life (brought home from the hospital when I was born). What a gift!

The bad, the car has spent it's entire life outside here in Georgia. It still runs and drives and make the occassional trip to the drag strip, but the rear of the car is full of rust. Nothing major, frame is solid, it just needs a trunk floor, lower quarters before and after the rear wheel, lots of work on the trunk lid lip and the tail light panel, and all around the rear window.

Does anyone know where I can get a really good discount on AMD sheet metal and a good qualified (good price) auto body welder in North Georgia?

Thanks!!

Sounds like your Dad gave you a great gift. You should consider yourself very fortunate.

My very good friend Tony Inman is probably the best metal fabricating sheet metal man I have ever known. He was Johnsons Hot Rod Shop main man for over 15 years. You see his picture in many of the magazine articles over the years although they don't mention his name as often as they should have. He can do all your rust repairs and is reasonable with his pricing. The quality of his work is far beyond expectations, you will not be disappointed. Tony is like me we want everything to be as "PERFECT" as possible.

We are only about an hour out of Atlanta and Tony is only a couple miles from my place. If you would like the "Tinman's" # pm me and I'll let you have it.

I would still love to see it, I like them when they're rusty and I love the `68's!

Great story, cool cars, good luck with the rustoration...

Sorry guys, I had to find the pics for it. Been a couple of years sense I've shot pics of the car.

Real cool story and fine looking car maybe you will pass down some day, Thanks for sharing and good luck making it new looking once again! Love that front plate. :)

Great to see it staying in the family! Looks like a great project!

To answer your question about the sheetmetal, Jeff with 521 Restorations will get you lined up with the AMD metal you're looking for and at some great discounted rates.
He is a member here at FBBO and does give a FBBO member discount. Super great guy.

I found an inside shot. He had all the seats recovered about five years ago and the door panels are original in prime condition.
