Most people are not aware that a secret service guy was dressed as an umpire the night President Bush threw out the first pitch during the 2001 World Series at Yankee Stadium. Great story. It’s surprising that none of the newspaper guys ever picked up on the "stranger" in the umpire's uniform. Remember this was just after 9/11/01!!!

Our country at one of its best moments !

If you don't do anything else today, just watch this! It will demonstrate just how resilient we Americans are which is a good reminder right about now.

It was a great moment for America. Everyone (for a brief moment) stopped being Republicans and Democrats, and became Americans.

After 9/11 it was common to hear "it's the new normal" , referring to increased security and scrutiny. That faded over time and things slowly went back to normal.

With this virus and physical distancing, you hear "it's the new normal" everyday. I think it'll pass as well over time. I can't imagine stadiums, movie theaters, restaurants, bars, arenas, airplanes ect only filling to half capacity or less. IMO

I am really happy you posted that. All the pressure of being the president was washed away by the pressure of one pitch.

Depending on if you consider two unwinnable wars "normal".
