New guy here! I recently purchased an original, numbers matching 69 Super Bee from the East Coast. It is a complete car in need of a lot of TLC and metal work. I have restored other cars (1966 VW bus, 62 bug, 64 land cruiser). This is my first Mopar or muscle car! I want to make sure I do this correctly so there is no back peddling. I will post pics and I'm sure to have a lot of questions! I have been using Classic Industries here in Southern California for parts. I am cure to stripping the care down, getting ready to pull the engine. I have had the tranny rebuilt as well. My dad is a great upholstery guy so he recovered the seats.
Welcome from another SoCal guy. Bees are bad assed cars. And you're right your Dad must be a top shelf upholsterer - those seats look incredible. Good luck with your project.
Wow. Welcome. I'd B afraid too. Quite a project. Perfect color. Thread title had me expecting a rust-free SoCal car. Good luck, you are at the right place.
Thank you for the warm welcome. Yes that first picture sets the stage. I'm having a hard time deciding which route to take on fixing all of that. Some have said, you just need to cut the entire rear end off and replace all of it. Not sure if I can get rid of that much original metal. The quarters are only bad on the lower edge and the wheel wells are the same. I know it's more work to piece things in but man it would really preserve the original car. Any suggestions/opinions?
Thank you for the comment on the seats!
Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the forum!
From Muroc dry Lake bed...yes, it really does exist.
(You may know it as Edwards AFB, only 19 miles from Hell)
PS: Great car!
A twin almost to my 70 Superbee
God Bless and thanks again for joining!
Looks familiar. It is my favorite color combination for the Super Bee as well. I rebuilt all the mechanicals, replaced all wiring, replaced the part of the interior the mice ate up and now just drive it as my everyday around town car.
