Settle a discussion for me that i was having. Whose over 65 and still actually working in the physical sense of the word? Part time/ Full time/ Farm ranch work, trades, construction. How do you feel? What hurts after a day? Heat, cold weather, whats worse? Hows your balance/dexterity. Confined space/heights? Share with me your deal if you could, would.
Under 62 I'm not interested you should be still busting ***.

I retired at 62. Closing in on 70 in a few days, but when I work in the garage on whatever, everything hurts, takes longer to get out from under the car than it does to get under it and just as long to straighten up again when leaning under the hood.

Can't take the heat like I used to.

Balance, dexterity and confined space is OK, but heights are another story. I still get up on the roof when I have to, but I have a death grip on the ladder. Then again I was never fond of heights. Still can't figure out how I ever got used to sitting in a chopper with my legs hanging out the door.

My advice............getting old sucks, DON'T DO IT!
Golden years my ***!

C'mon Steve, that's not fair. I'm 47 and feel like I got hit by a truck. You should be eternally grateful that you can still do what you do. I know how hard you work from our discussions. There aren't many 20 year olds in America today that could keep up with you. Have a Heineken and power on my friend.
PS See you soon.

47 ! Ah i remember it well. I could think about a woman and get a hard on back then LOL.... I was going hot and heavy at that age. I was talking with a older friend and we were talking about this as there is still some old guys still going at it. We were talking about when to pack it in. You can still work but you have to be smarter about it for sure. You also need to know your limits.

Stay strong my friend. I am coming to take you to Portobello Cafe for a nice lunch.

Balance isn't so good but not too bad....retired at 55 but have been working since 12 and just plain got tired of it plus my back was hurting all the time and now it's not all that bad. I'll be 67 next month. Heights don't bother me but laying down on a creeper and my head spins....same thing getting up. Back will let me know when I overwork it and it doesn't take much to do that but since doing some back exercises, it's better. Mr. Arthur Rightous has worked his way into it though. 5 beers and that's enough when a case didn't much bother me many years ago :D

Well be 63 next week. Got to keep moving. Getting up and down is lots slower. Knees are not what they use to be. But have not been good for years. I don't pickup bb short blocks and set then on the work bench anymore. The only heights that are a problem is getting off the floor and standing up.
Dam Arthur has setteled in back, shoulders, neck and hands. Furking right elbow locks up making it hard to straighten my arm.
Look at it this way if I stop working and moving I will lockup like a rusty tin man.
If I can still do what you can at 67 I will be tickled shitless.

I retired at 58 after trying to fight my way back from a severe heart attack I had at 56. Couldn't take the stress of corporate America anymore. I just didn't have the mental stamina nor did I give a **** any longer. They take and take and rarely give back. You're just a piece of meat. I was in corporate sales for a Fortune 500 company. I don't know the physical side of what you guys endure but I'll tell you it ain't no picnic on the white collar side either. I'm 64 now and have never had the same stamina for anything as I did before the attack. It was a bad one. Glad I quit before it killed me. I have a wife I love dearly, enough to get by and no debt. I feel for the guys that still have to slug it out everyday after a point when they don't have it to give. If you still love what you do God bless you. I'm happy to be retired even though I still miss the juice once in a while. Life's to short ......

That's what got to me.It's called vertigo. They have a pill for that one too!!

Turned 69 today.
I've had more than my share of surgery's, two levels of back fusion, two right shoulder rotater cuff repairs, 3 surgerys on my right knee and 11 days in the hospital with blood clot and infection at the same time. radical cance prosticetomy, emergency gull bladder surgery 3 months before the prostate surgery.
Several others two trivial to mention considering.
I'm still working restoring my cars and campers, maintaining an 11 acre property.
Quit work 17 years ago, too much bureaucracy bull.
I still play 8/11 hours of competitive racquetball weekly, I'll play 2 to 3 hours this evening after a full day of work here.
Every body that meets me think I am in my fifties, Just ask KK kryslerkid.
I have lot's of the usual old age akes and pains but I do not sit around all day playing kid games and watching the boob tube.
Most 20 year olds could not keep up.

Thphbhh!!!!!

I’m retiring in 4 years @ 55, selling the homestead and moving away!!!
It’s in the bag.

Good for you. Where are you planning to move to?

I recently turned 59 & I'm just starting to get things in order to be able to retire in 3 years or less. Been at my job for 40 years this November & I'm at the point where I've just about had enough.

I’m going to be 49 this year and feel like im 70 lol my job i blew my bicep apart at the kids i worked with all said i was a animal because they couldn’t keep up i was raised to take pride in my work and do what it takes to get it done its taken its tole on my body and has slowed me down and im to damn hardheaded to slow down

64. Still playing hockey 2 hours every friday night, and still in the 60 and over league. No balance issues or afraid of heights, hearing is fine(don't ask the wife), still working full time, work week is actually 3 days a week 13 hour days. Love working on the Charger but like every one else this age, it takes a little more time to move around when under the cars. Had 3 knee and 2 shoulder surgeries. Just dealing with osteoarthritis because of those surgeries. I just drink more. Dilly Dilly.....:drinks:

Sounds the start of the geezer section! I have turned into a geezer before my very eyes.
I have CRS & CSS and in a few years will be CDS.So 'till I can't climb in & out of the tow truck or hot rod,the hammer is DOWN! Retire, never! That hasn't gone well for most that I know and are still alive.Lost 19 people in the last 2 years.MY attitude sure has changed!!!!

I have the same issue if I'm flat on my back working up under the dash.
That is called Vertigo.Tell the Doc you need some pills, take 'em 1/2 hr before laying on the creeper or getting under the dash.
Now if they could come up with a pill for multi personality disorder!
