Painting DODGE Letters on 69 Tail Panel

What's the best way to get the factory appearance when painting the tail panel? A) Mask the letters before painting. B) Wipe off the wet paint. C) Sand off the dry paint. D)??

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't touch that panel too - but it's not mine, only a reference image for what I'm aspiring...

And there's a Hamburg in Germany. ;-)

I masked mine before spraying. Painstaking but worth it, I believe.
