Ok I'd like some input from ppl on fbbo when I paint my car should I put the moldings that are on the doors or should I leave them off the same with the wheel wells

If it's a quickie job you want, just mask the moldings.. If it's a keeper, then take as many moldings & trim off as possible.

However, if you are painting this yourself and asking these questionsis question, then you've got bigger problems.

I mean is it better to leave them off or put them back on does it take away from the car or add to it

Picture ?
That way I can see.
What is your Body Shop telling you OR are you doing the work yourself?

I'd always pull them off.
Are you talking about the "Glue-ons" that prevent some other cars door from denting your car?

Send us a pic so we can see.

Here is kennic70's car, more in his gallery.

I am assuming you are asking about leaving them off permanently??????

I say lose the side moldings unless you not going to put the vinyl roof back on? If not I say it would look cleaner without the side trim. If the wheel house molding are in good shape and no splits or breaks, you can restore those and reinstall.

Here is a repainted car with the same moldings you have. Non-vinyl top car.

That's what I was thinking but just wanted to get others thoughts about it by the way what color red is yours

Benefit of leaving them off. Weight reduction and loss of body and wheel well dirt traps.

I like the clean unobtrusive look.

But it was a lot of work, had to weld up the holes and blend it in. But the Coronet 500 molding was much more prominent than on your car.

Take them off thell just cause problems in the future thell start deteriorating and take paint with them or if you want them off later after repaint you'll more then likely scratch the hell out of the car getting them off then you'll have the glue to deal with I think it will look much better without them , but watch out for the shopping carts you'll be getting rid of your protection,

I think it's all a matter of personal taste. I left the wheel well moldings off my car and ended up putting them back on as the car was too black without them.

this is some great info Im going with leaving them off
