Hi all,

trying to put a dash cap on, but, i need to pull the wood grain insert / air vents on pass side of dash, i took out glove box and ash tray, any tips on getting it out and back in?? i know where the screws are, i just cant see them all from my vantage point.. who has done this and can give advise??

i have marked in red where the screws SHOULD be at.

Maybe just use the "brail method"? Can you feel the studs? They're on with speed-nuts, right? Those nuts are most likely 5/16" or 3/8". I would suggest "feeling your way" up in there with a 1/4" drive socket & extension (might not need the ratchet) and turn them out by hand. Go slow & be gentle. To put them back in, you might try putting a little electrical tape along the edge of the speed nuts once they're pre-installed in the socket so they don't fall out behind the dash....and have a couple extras available too. If at all possible, I like to put the speed nuts back on the same stud they came off of since they cut their own threads. Sorry I've not done that exact job, so I'm not much help.
