my 8 3/4 third member was installed with the right stuff gasket maker. I decided to change from 3:55s to 3:23s and I can’t get the thing apart. What i’ve Tried so far is, wedging a screw driver in. That didn’t work. So I jacked up the front of the rear end, to see if I could get it to brake lose. Didn’t even make it leak. Tried beating the screwdriver in with a hammer, still nothing. Anybody have any ideas?

You might try something thinner such as a gasket scraper or a putty knife. Some are designed with a head that you can tap/hammer on.Keep going to different locations tapping it in till all breaks loose. You may even try a propane torch to heat the areas.

Quick question for you. Did you slide the axles out a little? Its a question that has to be asked. lol

sorry all bolts out? use a.jack on the nose a lift up and see if it pops. Im not saying jack the whole car up just pressure and bounce the back of the car.

did mine last year and had the same problem. I used a car lift and a a floor jack and popped mine that way.

Already did the jack trick I’m going try find something thinner than the screwdriver I tried.

Maybe they should spray the dragstrip starting line with that stuff....Diluted a bit of course!

take the nuts off the whole way round the third member . with the drive line still installed . jack up the rear of the car . start it up , and with your foot on the brake and the car running . put it in drive then to reverse a few times . that should kick it lose . if not repeat .

Well I got it out finally. Took a combination of the jack trick a sharp wood chisel and a bfh. Thanks for all your suggestions.
