Petty Museum

Remember going there when I was maybe 12 or 13. Now at 32, I am sure some shits changed for sure. It was cool then as a kid to see the bird and belvedere he raced. I remember thinking how crazy those guys were to do 200 MPH in a car with foam taped to the steering wheel and roll bars and a solid seat. I think it is alot larger now with the addition to all the other cars they've added over the years. I'd like to go again.

Many contributed but it was really Petty that put nascar on the map. I was a fan in the days when it was still stock car racing, I have no interest in it anymore. Like top fuel in drag racing. While I respect it, it's big business now and so far from where the sport originated that the average man can't compete in it anymore. Better were the days when the cars on the track were built in the guys garage with a few buddies.
Thanks for posting this Richard!

I thought you were talking about this one...it's Petty.

Huge props to everyone at the Petty Museum and the Petty Foundation for all of their assistance in our build. Without them and a number of members of this forum, we couldn't have completed the car with the details it has. Pictures are from Goodguy's West Coast Nationals back in August. We finished the car about two weeks later and it has ~150 miles of shake down thus far. The Museum has invited us to bring it out, so working on that after the first of the year. Really good people with both of those organizations.

Very cool stuff. Always been a Petty fan. Back when racing was real racing.

Went there a few years ago to the car show he does on site and it was great. I would advise anyone who is in the area to stop by and see everything. The museum is amazing. At the show he even opened the shop and it was cool to see all the projects they were working on. Some really nice Mopars in there at the time.
