Good morning all. Getting mixed answer's on the correct color pie tin for a 69 Daytona? Some say red and some say orange? Thanks

Mine is red; I assumed it was correct. I'll be watching this thread to find out. Build Date: May 15.

I’m far from a wing car guru, but I would expect to see an orange pie tin on a Daytona.

My earlier post was a response to the “68 cars got red, 69 cars got orange” comment, which is generally true but not an ironclad fact by any stretch of the imagination.

My unrestored early build 69 Charger had/has a red “pie tin.”
Not a Dodge with a "Magnum" pie tin, but my April build, unrestored '69 GTX I bought from the original owner had a red "Super Commando" tin. It was pretty beat up, so I bought a new one at the dealer for $30. This was in 1991.

FWIW, according to Paul Herd's Restoration Guide on page 41 it states the tins were red and should read "440 Magnum". I'm assuming you have a 440.

Yes Have a 440 car was assy on June 7th. I have seen Daytona's with both color's. Been told color change was 1/2 way through the year. But we know how that goes with Mother Mopar. What ever's on the shelve. The Daytona in my shop has been in the owner's fami.ly since 71, and he says he has his has an orange tin. But he took it off years ago and can't find it along with some other parts. So how bout I put 1/2 a red tin and 1/2 an orange tin? Thanks for all the info.

I posed your question on a winged car forum several days ago. Unfortunately, I only received two responses: "Red".
