Floyd Garrett passed away a few years ago, and as far as I know, his collection has been sold off. While it was in existence, it was an interesting place, and Floyd was an interesting guy. I was there a couple of times. If it's still there visit the Muscle Car Museum. It has a lot of Chevys in there but a cool place.
Happy Anniversary.I'm headed to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area for a week camping trip for our anniversary. I'm looking for :
Things to do
Things to see
Restaurants - no chains, i can find them anywhere
We've been there before for a short stay and saw some of the major stuff (Cades cove, Clingmans Dome, etc.) We've would like to see more of the scenery and not tourist traps.
But more importantly - THE FOOD!
If there is any members near there, they will have local knowledge.??
Oh, and maybe some car related stuff too wouldn't hurt if I happened to just stumble upon it.
Find the nearest Buc-ees super duper gas station somewhere... go for their deli sample jerky, lots of stuff to sample ! Omg the restrooms are like golden! The places are awesome! It’s a stop in it self!
Happy Anniversary too!
My wife was driving her Ford Fiesta and got halfway up a muddy hill on that road and bogged down. I had her back down to where we changed places and I got it up the hill. We call it our little bubba truck.Parsons branch out of Cades cove. We used to do it in jeeps before all the ducking jeep bullshit. Pops out in the middle of the dragon. There was a slide on 441 over the weekend. So there's another road to avoid. As far as the Jeter mt apple orchard I wouldn't make that trip from there for it, and it's like 20 minutes from me not 2hrs 45 minutes (my opinion)
Which dam? We got a ton of them 'round these parts.Headed to the dam, camping tomorrow for four days and then on to Cades Cove four more days. I’m going to have to drive through some of that mess to get there. Last year, we took the “4 wheel road” from the cove loop to the Tail. We don’t eat out much in that area. Sort of like me avoiding Disney and all that.

Thank you Pedalpusher, exactly what I was looking for.All depends what you like to eat, few of my go to places.
Breakfast: Old Mill, walk next door to the general store & grab some triple berry jelly to take home it’s the best. Mel’s Diner, great atmosphere & old rock & roll always playing. Apple Barn is good, service is dicey at times.
Sunliner Diner, best burgers & shakes around. Cold beer & wings, Blue Moose. Local Goat, deep fried deviled eggs & Bison meatloaf. My go to every time…..Huck Finns, catfish & fixins, glass of sweet tea takes both hands to hold. Lastly, Howard’s in Gatlinburg, romantic flare for you & wife renovated patio, over top creek.
The Titanic museum is a must see. Alcatraz is good as well. There is a scenic drive called Roaring Fork motor nature Trail, see original homesteads of the Smokies & old mills, usually always see bears on the drive, cooler drive with trees covering most of drive. Everyone goes to Cades Cove, always congested. There is a picnic area called Chimneys picnic area. Been going there since a kid on vacations, river runs through it, tree covered. They have pull offs to park, with grills & a picnic table. About four miles going in the Smokies. While in Gatlinburg, you have to play HillBilly golf.
Charles Cook mentioned Biltmore, that is really something to see, about an hour away from Pigeon Forge
Enjoy your trip & congratulations!
