Pilot bearing problems.

I think that bearing outside is not steel but some aluminum alloy. I don’t think you can weld it. Put a magnet on it to see.
 
Sure there is.. if the unfinished hole is actually concentric. You still need to cut 5/8" off the input shaft and at that point I sure wish that I'd had a roller bearing back in '77 while stuffing an A833 behind an auto 440 in my '69 Fury II. Life would have been so much simpler while lying on my back!
I was stating that if it’s already an auto crank with the bearing in it the shaft would already be cut off to the right length. Kim

Correct, not steel.
 
I like the bushings instead of the bearings. If the bearings fail, they can ruin the input shaft. I’ve seen it on a Cummins before.
