I was in the process of cleaning the carbon off the top of the pistons. As I kept cleaning them with more force I noticed the piston had some small movement laterally. I turned the engine by hand and it seemed like at he pistons have the same amount of movement inside the cylinder. Is this normal?

As the Aluminum and the cylinders get warm, They both expand. The aluminum expands more than the cast iron and
they tighten up. That's the way it's designed.
