After getting in some morning miles on the bike I headed out to a local wrecker, where I'd been contemplating grabbing a 440 from a motorhome....and someone had beaten me to it. So plan B, since I was coffee'd up and had a wheelbarrow full of tools--there was another one in a van-cab RV. Spent 5 hours removing parts and obstructions and pulling the '78 440 out the passenger door. Standard bores, larger main saddle supports, everything in great shape. All the makings of a nice strokster! And the best part.....$169.50 out the door! Would've been easier doing the actual lift with a regular cherry picker instead of their non-moveable-boom chain-pawl crap hoist but oh well. Oh and I didn't want the heads but I absolutely could not get that PS exhaust manifold off after unbolting it. When I tried prying at the ends it simply broke off at the bolt holes so I'll work that one off in the garage with an even BiggerFH or a torch..
By hook or by crook, I was gonna get it out!
