I'm switching from manual steering to power steering. I installed the power steering box and pump when I put the pitman arm on, I cant turn it to line it up with the center link. Any thoughts?
Turn the steering wheel until the pitman arm lines up? Move the tires until the pitman arm lines up? I'm a little confused about what the problem is????
Box is used, got it for free. Reliable I think...Steering column is out of the car. I've been trying to turn it under the car. I even tried a pipe wrench. Wouldn't budge.
Even with the drag link and pitman arm connected, you should be able to rotate the steering box by moving the front wheels with the car on jack-stands. Albeit with a decent amount of resistance.
If the box is frozen solid, it is probably toast. Someone replaced it or removed it for good reason.
I connected the drag link and tie rods...it broke loose and seems to be fine. I just didn't have enough leverage to free it up without those parts attached. Thanks all for the input.
