I’m hoping to convert my 1962 Plymouth Savoy sedan to power steering. It has a 318 poly. When I spoke with Borgerson, they told me they did not have a bracket or a pump that would fit a 318 poly. Has anyone received the same advice? If so, does anyone know of a work around That would smooth the way to a power steering conversion. Thanks so much, you guys are great.

I'm 99% sure that a pump/pulley/brackets from a 318 LA will work. The timing cover/front of block is like the early LA engines. So bolts should be in the same place
You may have to do some old school hot rodding with spacers and such.My memory is going and I do not remember the year that the timing cover swapped the sides for timing tab as the later covers have embossed it into the cover. You shouldn't have to change your cover. I just went into a bit of detail. Do a search to verify.

I converted my 65 D100 to P/S, I used a federal pump. This is what it looks like on the 318 poly. It already had a dual groove pulley for the alternator so the alternator became a single groove unit.

Thanks Darter, I will circle back with Borgerson with that info — much appreciated!

Thanks for the photos — I can see where the bracket attaches to the water pump, does the pump attach to the block somewhere?

It just bolts up to the water pump. The pump came with a bunch of extra stuff in a parts car 20 years ago so I don't know what it is originally for.
