Just had my 68 Charger out for a little cruise. Car ran like a top no problems . Checking things over in the garage when i got home, i noticed the wires for my electric fans were were laying over the power steering pump. I went to move them and the loom that they are in was melted to the power steering pump!. Grabbed my lazer thermometer and put it on the pump - 225F Other than the headers I think thats the hottest thing in the engine compartment.

Does that seem little hot ?? I know not something that you normal check but......

Its the factory pump, steering seems fine

The boiling point of power steering fluid is between 600° and 700° degrees. I wouldn't worry about it. Otherwise add a cooler.

As long as the power steering system is not full of air bubbles....you should be fine.
