Power steering pump paint?

Converted the Fury to power steering yesterday, and yes I’m sore now! I had the federal pump from a ‘64 Imperial, got the whole engine / tranny from fan to cut off driveshaft. So when I went and cleaned up the pump the tank was bare galvanized steel, not a trace of paint anywhere. No little scraps in inside corners etc. so at the moment I’ve left it that way. Most of the photos I see have it painted though. Any recollections / photos of these when original? Paint? No paint? Some of each?

All were painted gloss black from the factory.
I’ve seen Them the same as you have where the paint is off the galvanized can.
