Problem with our '77 Doba with 400 motor when you first start it up and the first time you use the PS it is real hard and does not want to work. After that it seems to be OK. I was going to try to swap the pump but my question is . . . the only pumps we have here are pumps off small block 360 motors. Does the small block and big block share the same ham style pump?

The pump is a pump, it pressurizes the fluid going into the box. What about the box itself ? linkage ? the pressure hose ? even the fluid itself ?

I have a good one ( pump, can, pulley, hoses ) from a 79 360 motor if you are interested.
