Being of the generation most of y'all love so much; I have never driven a car without power steering. For whatever reason, my Mazda3 is having an electrical issues with the power steering pump. It cuts off after about 10 minutes of driving. Anyways, being this is the first time actually feeling the friction, road, weight of the car, it's kind of nice. Don't get me wrong, parking is a PITA, but doing 65 on turns is pretty fun. I get a lot more feedback from the car/road. I may not fix the pump.

And in my day, when there were very few cars with power steering ( at least as a kid and that we could afford ) taking the driver's test and having to parallel park and do a 3 point turn on a road, gave you quite the workout - guess we just got use to it because it was a part of our life every day. Getting the car moving ever so slightly also helps - if it's sitting still, it IS much more difficult.

And in the Winter I had to walk to school, in the snow, uphill, both ways . . . ( still haven't figured out how - yet ) . . . LMAO

Y'all make a point. I drive trucks for work sometimes. That little Mazda is pretty heavy below 5-10mph. I couldn't imagine a 95,000# pump with a triple axel in the rear. It's prolly break my forearm. lol

My oldest son bought an RX7 back in the day and shortly afterwords the PS pump went out. The consensus was that it was way more fun to drive it like that than to fix it, so he let it ride. A little challenging to park, but it drove like a go cart!
