When my now 82 year old Mom moved into a house by herself last year I bought her Medical Guardian medical monitoring system. My sisters and I are concerned Mom will end up falling and not being able to get up or contact anyone for help.
"Falls among adults aged 65 and older are common, costly, and preventable. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries among older adults."

My Uncle David has had diabetes for years and has no feeling in his feet and often falls down. Aunt Connie told me he had fallen last summer on a hot asphalt parking lot and lay there 45 minutes before someone noticed and helped him into his car. My sister sent me a text last week asking for the information for Medical Guardian for her friend, a recent widow of her former pastor, who recently fell and lied on the floor for 11 hours before her son came home.
The point is we or someone we know will need one of these devices one day. The key is to get one before the an accident happens.
Do your own research and choose what is best for you and your family. My friend Lisa had an emergency with her Mom and said something about having to get a medical monitoring system for her as she lives alone before being released from hospital. Lisa recalled an ad on TV and signed up without researching the many options and ended up paying 3 to 4 times what my own Mom's system costs and is locked into a 1 year contract with that service.
I recommend Medial Guardian. Best reviewed with no contract and a good value for what you're getting.
