I was in the process of installing the rear bumper on my 70 GTX and needed new bolts so I checked Summit and they had exactly what I needed from AMD. Installed the left side bracket first and look what happened to my brand new AMD bolts when tightening them down with a ratchet and socket. These are some kind of Chinesium crap.

Who makes a good set of chrome bumper bolts?

McMaster-Carr (?) Fasteners-Hardware, IIRC
been a while since I bought from them
look it up

I wonder if you could get them in 'stainless steel' from ARP ?

As Budnicks pointed out...really good quality as I have used them myself...cr8crshr/Bill :thumbsup::thumbsup: :usflag: :usflag: :usflag:

Thanks guys. I looked on there and all they have is SS carriage bolts, which will defiantly be strong enough, but they aren't polished or anything so I'm thinking they will not match very well with new chrome. Summit has some OER bolts that will work so I'm going to look at them when I take these back.

I've looked at several different restoration parts places and they all have the same thing. Stainless capped 3/8 bolts which is what AMDs bolts are, so I'm thinking they might all come from the same place. I found these on fleabay and might go with them. Seller has 100% positive reviews and they are listed as chrome and grade 5.

Thanks for the tip.

Just has the crank shaft in my low hours Campbell Hausfield compressor shear clean off between the first piston and front bearing (crank cast in China). Ridiculous.
