Pulley deal...

Why would you want your water pump reduced by 30% ?

Why would you want your water pump reduced by 30% ?

This is an "underdrive" crank pulley. All of your accessories (water pump, power steering pump, A/C, alternator, etc.) take horsepower to turn them. If you turn them less/slower, then you use less horsepower leaving more horsepower to make your car go fast. This is not a good idea if your car runs hot, but for a track car or one that runs as cool as ice, it's some cheap speed.

This pulley is probably best suited for racing application. Especially if you are running an electric water pump. Stock alternator to crankshaft ratio's are usually somewhere around 3to1 and that means the alternator spins at 18,000 rpm's with 6000 rpm's at the crank. The idea of an under drive pulley is to keep the alternator rpm's at a reasonable/safe speed.

I'm thinking you put this here for guys currently using/ needing this pulley.
It appears that it's going to be DISCONTINUED.
I've used the old style cast aluminum pulley with great success.
This is an upgraded pulley that's hard coated.
Get 'em before they are ll gone.

Thanks ange. I figured since this was the "racer's hangout".....it would be assumed that they were for such applications. Forgot the old adage about assumption.
I don't need one, but hey, what a deal....one on it's way.

Got it today. Very nice and stout piece. Came with correct bolts, also.
