Pure Stock Drag Racing: The Way It Ought To Be! - Hot Rod Network

My in-laws race at mid Michigan all the time, basically their home track. Are you from the area?

Ah...pure stock.....produced plenty of rule bending and all out cheaters lol. Great to watch too but still like watching the nitro cars and especially at night.

No kidding? That's cool! My brother is a troop...

Nice videos, they have a street class that's fun to go watch as well

My preference too watching original or modified yet street worthy rides.

I wasn't thinking of that far out either

The sad thing as that in stock form, most of our cars weren't all that fast (like 14-sec. 1/4 mile) and would get whooped up on by a modern 6cyl Camaro or turbocharged Ford Taurus. "I ain't going out like that"

I'm old school as well I'm old. I used to watch NASCAR when the cars looked like cars in the 60's & early 70's yet. Whole different game today. My memories are taking my '70 Cuda and '67 GTO out on the rural highways after dark to run guys exception of one time when I was prodded enough to run in town. Lucky, lucky no pole-eece were around that late hot summer night

I could watch stock/close to stock cars of our era run all weekend and not care about anything else!

The hemi car was deja vu for me, altho it was slower than mine. Was expecting it to carry the front wheels to second gear, wait that was superstock ! Gotta love it !

I've ran this event the last three years, I wish I would have paid attention a lot sooner. Well worth going to run or watch. its a friendly event, that you can run and make plenty of test runs on Friday, then pair up and test your skills on Saturday. If you win your shootout you can continue to the last man standing.

And you won't have to wait in line for a hotdog & a beer! Love it.

I wish I had a video camera back in the day, for all the street action I watched & participated in. THAT was action !

Thanks Pops! Kind of a flashback to my teens!
That 1st vid of the Hemi Net was awesome!
There were some nice rides, that 61 Tempest was sweet and I loved watching those Studes running with the big boys!

I love the Pure Stock and FAST cars since I am old school and love the old muscle. These classes remind me of 1970 when Pro Stock first came out and they ran Hemi Cuda's and Dusters and 427 Camaro's and 429 Mavericks as that was a great time also. But after a few years they slowed the Mopars down and ruined the class. Ron
