What are you trying to do? Better yet what are you working on and trying to accomplish? In 50 plus years, I have never seen a torsion bar worn out or broken. Please expand a little.
I had a 58 Plymouth that broke one around 1966 with about 100,000 miles on the car.
Torsion bars were still new back then and in the 2nd year in Mopars.
I've seen one snapped in my lifetime, on our '64 belvedere to be exact. That said, I'd take a 50 year old OE bar over any steel being used today in a heart beat.
I would go with stock big block or Hemi bars. Handling can be improved other ways. Bars will contribute a little to handling, but not as much as sway bars, reinforced LCA's, adjustable UCA's. Bars are going to effect ride stiffness more than anything.
