Question about fuel. I live in Finland and we have 95 and 98 octane choices.

OK,

SO I realize that there are more US or Canadian members here, and this forum is dominated by you folks! ;)

But..

My new car, which is sailing over to me as I write this, will land in a country that still has 95 and 98 octane unleaded fuel! YAY!

My question is, will I have any problems running my 383 on better fuel? As I type this I know how dumb that sounds. But I was wondering if I could possibly hurt the 383 in any way due to the better and higher octane fuel here.

Someone told me I should run an additive? I am guessing NOT an octane boost, but something to keep the engine in good condition.

Any thoughts?

:)

I don't see a problem. Using no lead gas without hardened valve seats can cause issues but I have run plenty of cars with no problems. Curious, do they blend your gas with alcohol? All the gas I'm my area is 10% alcohol.

No, well at least not 98 octane, which is all I run in my new Audi A5.

I think the 95 octane version has some ethanol.

should run fine on 95..maybe tweak the timming...check the plugs after a tank...

Your 98 octane is same as USA 93 octane, in europe we use the Research Octane Number (RON) and USA has the Pump Octane Number, (PON), thats why the difference.

As stated above, your advertised octane is not the same as ours. We use the R+M/2 method, or average of the research and motor numbers.

..I always use 102 Octane fuel..... should be @ 95 /96 US Octane... and there ís no ethanol in it... PURE Gasoline The 440 loves that fuel.... :headbang: ( sadly ..... )
