I had a few Rats as pets over the years I usually keep them in pairs as they are very social animals. Some of the best pets I ever had. They would sit on our laps for hours or climb up and sit on my shoulder, My kids loved them. I usually tell people the biggest difference between Rats and say hamsters or such animals is while hamsters do everything in their power to run away from you, Rats' want to be by you.. They are prone to cancer though and we lost 2 of the 6 to it, It was sad! Been keeping Rats as pets off and on for 30 years.
