I bought a 74 Runner clone that does not have the rally dash. Is it possible to swap out dashes and which years would work.
Thanks
AL

Yes it is possible to swap your standard gauges for the Rallye Gauges. Look for 71-74 Roadrunners, Satellite Sebring/Plus, 71-74 Chargers. Not all 71-74 Chargers had rallye gauges. Look for Rallyes, 500's, SE's and R/T's. When you get the rallye gauges, try and get the entire dash harness as your standard harness will not work with the Rallye Gauges.

I just found this on Ebay. It is the correct rallye cluster for your year and it is in excellent condition and priced right, even with the BUY IT NOW. It has the clock which can be replaced with a factory tach, 150MPH speedo and A/C heater contols with the vacuum block and lines. The radio area is also uncut and you can reuse your original radio.

Good Luck,

It is not a major job at all to switch gauges. All you have to do is remove the original gauges and harness along with the bulk head connector in the firewall which is connected to the harness. Install the new harness and connector, reconnect the engine, wiper, and light harnesses to it and install the new gauges. The hardest part is getting the gauge cluster out. You have to drop the column down and be careful not to catch the bezel on the dash frame when removing and installing the clusters.

not so fast on wire harness the 71 b- body is not the same as 72-74 b-body wire harness

What are the differences between the 71 harnesses and the 72-74 harnesses?

The only one that I know of are the extra lights next to the wiper and light switches that are only on the 74 clusters. 71-73 clusters do not have these lights but all other parts are the same.

Besides if RAM2500 98 gets the entire cluster and harness from the same car, it is just a matter of transfering the harnesses and clusters.

Thanks for explaining.

The only harness I was talking about was the underdash harness that controls the gauges. This harness should be the same for all 71-73 B-Bodies with the rallye gauges and you should be able to reuse your existing engine, wiper and light harnesses. Just plug them into the bulkhead connector. The only underdash harness that will be slightly different is the 74 harness with the 2 extra lights. Since RAM250098 has a 74 the 74 cluster and harness would be correct for his car.

Thanks guy's maybe that is what I will do, I am in no rush, might do it over the winter months, it will give me time to find the correct 74 cluster for the car. Thanks again.

I just bought this item yesterday for my 74 clone conversion but as stated it is best to get the cluster harness also and I'm having a hard time finding one at a reasonable price (Year One wants $599 for a new one) but I'm saving the conversion for a winter project. I needed the AC control also which came with this cluster. I already have the Tach to replace the clock that was in this unit.
