My 6- Coronet reverse back up light has decided to switch off, my left hand side is working however my right hand side decided to not work after a trip to the Drs (mechanic) today. I have tapped it a few times and it actually blinked once so it seems to me there is a wiring or bulb issue.the purple wire is in tac and appears to be not faulty.

Can anyone assist me with what is the best way to remove the back up light (I noticed there is a Phillips head screw on one side) and the other is a nut. Is that the only two options to undo? Does the globe pop out from the outside or inside once removed? If this makes sense?

Any assistance would be really helpful

Although I don't have a Coronet, I would think that removing the 2 screws on the lens assy. will get you to the bulb. When you get the bulb out inspect it as you may simply have a broken filament internally. Or, you may find some corrosion in the spring loaded socket that needs to be cleaned up, Or you may have to clean up the area where the screw holds the lamp housing. That screw probably provides the ground for the bulb housing and socket. It looks suspect.
Nice looking car..

I have the 66 Coronet with those backup lights. You should not have to take the lens out. The bulb sockets pull out from inside the trunk lid. They are a tight fit so take care. When you have the socket and bulb out then inspect them carefully. Either the bulb is bad or the socket is bad/dirty or the socket is not grounding properly to it's hole. Clean the socket ears and the edges of the socket hole. Also, carefully snap the socket back in because it is a tight fit and can be a bit frustrating.

Yes, take the lens off. Push the bulb in, there will be spring pressure. Turn counterclockwise untill it is free. Take the bulb out and as stated above check the bulb and socket. You will also see groves in the socket housing showing you how the bulb goes in and out.
Codicil, our cars have backup lights in the bumpers. Don’t know if that makes a difference.
It will be awhile before I will be at our storage to look at the 66’s.
