Does anyone have a picture of the bracket that connects the rear bumper through the rear quarter on a 64 polara, 440, or 330? I think I have the brackets but I'm thinking that there should be some kind of rubber grommet that gets bolted through the body to the bracket.

I'd appreciate if someone could post a picture of this area or could give me a link to someone that deals in these.

Thanks,
Joe

Joe, as we speak I have my rear bumper out and there is a rubber thing on there. If I can find the camera (wife put it in her closet, so it's lost forever) I'll snap some pics for ya and post them up.

That would be great Zack. A picture or two of the bracket and the bolt holding the bracket to the car would also help me. Thanks. I thought you bought a fiberglass bumper for your car?

Joe

Fiberglass for the front. May still go with the factory stuff if the chrome place does good work for the quoted price.

The bumper attachment thingy...

Here ya go Joe, hope this helps.

Thanks Zack. I do have all that hardware and figured that it was for there although I was thinking that there should have been some sort of rubber grommet going through there also so you wouldn't have metal to metal contact with the rear quarter.

I'll pick up some big rubber washers or something to accomplish that.

I dont remeber any rubber being there, but you do have a good idea I'm gonna have to steal, hope ya dont mind.

I actually left those off on my car. Reason being that I thought if someone (prob in a Prius) ran into the bumper it wouldn't damage the quarter panel.

I just ran a bumper bolt in the bumper but no bracket. My bumper seems really solid and stable without it and just the main brackets to the frame.

Now theres a thought, could save a headache in the long run.

Well here's my thought on it. I have the bumper mounted like Jeff described. They look like original bumpers rechromed (look great) but they do have a little flex to them especially at the ends. I'm thinking if a car is just going to tap it even that force could flex it enough to do damage to the quarters the way the quarter sort of goes over the end of the bumper. I'm also thinking the odds are probably greater that someone will wail into you so it probably wouldn't make much of a difference on damage control.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't! :icon_axe:

Zack if you decide to use the brackets go ahead and use the rubber spacer idea, that's what this is all about to share our ideas and knowledge and help one another. Both yourself , Jeff , and others have been a big help to me on here and I appreciate it.
Thanks,
Joe
