Heres a old one, But I have to ask.
how to install rear glass on 65 Satellite.
Got new seal etc
I assume seal goes on glass 1,St, then onto rear location
Is it hard to do , seems that once the seal is on the glass
You somehow have to get the seal on around all the back?
Rear interior trim has to come off?
Thanks

Mm mm, must be on wrong forum

Put the seal in first, then put the bottom of the glass in the seal channel and slowly push the glass down into the channel. Not hard to do, just take your time and it will "pop" in and your done.

Thanks 5.7. Do you have to put any sealant around pinch weld 1,St before you install rubber seal Also once the rubber seal is on, is there any sealant to go into groove for glass, Thanks

well me and 5.7hemi do not do it the same, I put the seal on the glass, if there is any stainless trim top or bottom that imbeds in the seal it also must go in 1st,
bottle of soapy water spray seal and body , set the bottom in 1st make sure your left and right distance is correct.

I use a 45 degree blunt nose trim pick start with that bottom edge and pull the inner rubber lip in,
working each side some, then move up top do the same, corners will be the tuff areas , just take your time and keep it soaped up.

5.7 hemis way prob is fine also, but this is how I do them.

yes , interior trim has to come off, I work from the inside to pull in the seal all the way around.

You can use a small rope like cloths line!Set the glass on the bottom pinch weld with the line ends at the top pull the line in anD go around it pulling the gasket in It will be easier with a friend LIGHTLY pushing in on the glass as you go around. I would use some sealant (butyl) at the upper corners(pinch weld) and in the gasket on the bottom of the glass

Thanks1967, Looks like I have 2- choices, I assume the Front windshield is the same way?

Installing glass on a 65 is unique to say the least. First get yourself a bottle of Liquid Urethane sealant form a glazier. Run a bead of sealer on spot welded lip, let stand 10 minutes. Then install gasket into the opening. Place blocks around opening of window. Pour a pint of liquid Urethane into the opening in gasket and allow to settle for 20 minutes. Make sure your not installing gasket on a very cold day. You will need two people for this process and 2 suction cups to control the glass. Once the liquid Urethane has settled run a bead of Urethane Sealer in calk tube inside gasket. then around edge of wind. Using the two cups and two people place the bottom of the windshield into the gasket "cuff". Now you will lean the glass against the rubber gasket. slide a string between glass and gasket and slowly bring the top cuff over the edge of the glass. Make sure the bead of calk urethane is in the cuff. With a spray bottle of soapy water slowly bring the cuff over the glass. Once you are completely around the glass then pull the string out. le the glass settle for 45 minutes, make sure the glass is supported on the blocks under the base of the glass so it does not slide down. Now runs a bead of sealer across the top of the gasket and around both sides. Once it sets 15 minutes, wipe the excess with a Denatured alcohol wipe. Do not use lacquer thinner or heavy solvent other wise you will gas off under the gasket. Tape the glass in place and let sit 2 days. Use the Plyable 3M Glass Set urethane you can get from any glass shop or order from Autobody supplier like Albert kemperle.

yes , front glass is the same, like moparsteve posted you can use some butyl I haven't for years but the seals I use are new and soft and the bodies are in new paint, if you do use some butyl rope it in tape off your headliner with some 2" painting tape.

Looks like you now have a few different ways to install the glass......all of which will work just fine.

Thanks All, yes I have new rubber seal, and new paint, I might stay away from the butyl, yes the 65,s are different , as I go along with this resto I finding a lot of different things about this one year only, and made in USA, Little hard finding parts etc up here, But there are some good people on this site, that I've got info and parts off of

Got rubber seal in back, got it clamped in a few spots to let it stretch and form to window opening, now I will see if I can put glass in with it there, or take it out and put it on glass,
