Has anyone converted the rear seatbelts to shoulder seat belts? I have a 69 Coronet but any info will help. My kids sit in the back a lot and I would feel better if they also had shoulder belts.

I have exactly the same question and I note a reference in the service manual for rear shoulder belts, which is backed up by an appropriate looking slot in the metal of the rear parcel shelf and some strong looking sheet metal below in the arch of the trunk floor - after markets parts suggest there is a mount point in the metal there but I've not climbed in the trunk to see. What I cannot find is a reference to any aftermarket parts to retrofit this - any ideas anyone?

I dont remember but either 5.7 or 747 had a thread or commented on it a while back which had some good info in it.
Here is a pic of the slot for the ones that were equipped from the factory, dont know if the retractor is available though...

From within the trunk I can see that slot, so I imagine adding shoulder straps would need the straps themselves, a different buckle to clip into and for some adjustments to be made to the mount points and the parcel shelf. I wonder if any old generic retractable belts might bolt into the trunk and the other elements mounted to the existing mount points under the bench for a more modern, child seat friendly approach...
