I have had a couple cars shipped by them
1 from Brainard Minn. to Concord Calif.
another from Gainsville Fla. to Concord Calif.
the 1st was a 68 Barracuda Formula S, sort of basket case shell/roller
they/the driver treated it like it was a $1,000,000 car, same exact routine & check list
the driver was very prompt & very knowledgeable, very polite guy,
he was a total car guy, stayed & BS'd a while, checked out my shop
& my cars/in my trailer
(His truck & trailer were still spotless looking, like it was just washed
& he has said; "my delivery was his last stop")
before the next day, he was supposed to go to LA area,
& get another load to back east/mid-west..
He/they had a co driver, & they dang near beat me back to Calif.
I was towing my Featherlite Trailer 43' & 2 racecars in it, stopped for
fuel & rest breaks, pretty much drove straight thru, took my time
& he had 4 cars to deliver & arrived something like 12-ish hrs after I did...
Next morning...
All the way across country, in a big rig, huge trailer, spotless clean & shinned...
Obviously he/they made good time, has to stop for fuel & mandatory sleep/rest breaks etc.
So did I...
I tried to give the guy a $100 tip, to share he refused it,
said; "it's his job & it's not necessary"
so I gave it back them anyway & said;
"lunch & dinner is on me, have a great one"... He relented...
The other one, was 'a new' 1997 Firebird P/S chassis I bought in Gainsville
at the Gators, Jerry Bickle build...
I bought from a fellow racer Mike M., a dual frame-rail Mountain Motor car,
all carbon-fiber, except the roof skin/main shell was OE steel,
all the Lexan installed, full tin, seat etc.
'Very expensive' & a full roller, with very expensive fragile 'Hairy's carbon-fiber'
lift off zues'd on nose, hood, scoop, hinged doors, trunk lid & larger tire opening quarters
& all the reg./tin or aluminum parts...
Same deal, an older guy this time/driver with a co driver,
I think he said it was his son/co-driver, both showed up, like 30 min.s early...
Attention to detail while loading it, same like 100pt check list again, before loading
asked; "if any special treatment or starting procedures" etc.
(I told him no engine or trans, it's an 1,500# roller, no parking brake etc.)
He said no problem they haul racecars a lot...
He said he did a lot of cars from Scottsdale Barrett Jackson Auctions, for years...
&
I was curious about the bouncing going down the road, I-40 & I-10 were rough back then
he commented 'they have air ride', it's cushy & he will also put like,
inflatable ballons/bladders under each side of the car at my request,
(in my trailer I used semi truck tire tubes)
so it would NOT add a bunch of wear to the brand new very pricey coil-overs/shocks
& shock valving or springs
& flexing the brand new chassis, on 33"x17/15 slicks & Goodyear front runners...
I told him to check them daily, they may lose air, he had no problem with my request...
I was worry about bouncing down the hi-ways, he said it was a normal request
they tied it down by the tires in front, the rear slicks were to big for that
so he made a strap arrangement, he pulled it down good on the ballons/bladders too...
He again went over the car with a fine tooth comb, detailed where scratches & flaws were...
So when it showed up, if there was any new ones they could record it, for insurance...
(cross country trips the guy said it was co. policy, to have a co-driver
locally/regional a days trip not so much, allegedly some are husband & wife too)
I would never/ever go cheap & ship a car across the country in/on an open trailer...
you can't believe all the rock chips & bugs or weather crap/dirt or dust, it gets...
They aren't that much more than a nobody shipper, they are competitively priced...
I'd highly recommend them...
Good luck
