They’re like flys on honey around the beach cities. They actually bri g in millions in a good year for them. They’re practically standing on your car waiting for the meter to expire. I never take even a 5 minute chance anymore. Learned my lesson the expensive way..

Amen! I'm in the sticks, and VERY happy about that... no riots, just trees and cows. My daughter's urbanized boyfriend calls me an Appalachian hilljack (hence my forum name), and was very disappointed when he saw I would wear that description proudly.

I never heard of meter maids, so I had to look them up.

The ones in Surfers Paradise don't fine you. It's the opposite - they check for meters that have expired or are about to expire and put money in the meter to save you from being fined. All the while walking around in gold bikinis. The local chamber of commerce pays for them I think.
