I've got some rust around my rear window. My body guy says he will have to remove the glass to fix it, and he says that in so doing there is a good chance he will break the rear glass. He said I need to have a spare rear glass handy cause he don't search for parts. He also said that he needs the "special clips" that are necessary to hold the glass in. I have not been able to find any. I can find the clips used to hold the aluminum trim around the glass, but not the glass itself.

Anyone know what he's talking about? And say, is it really that hard not to break the glass on these cars when removing it?

I just had mine done. Call a professional auto glass company, they can remove it without breaking it and there are no other clips.

I removed my own. Just gently work a thin blade down and then thread through some stainless steel wire. You can buy a kit for this cheap. Then make a sawing motion until you go all the way round. It will just lift out. Just take your time with it. There are some spacers on the bottom of the glass but not a big deal to make new ones if you need them. You will see what I'm talking about when you take out the window. Good luck.
