Hey all,

This will perturb the DIY people I'm sure, but I'm looking for a reputable shop in my area (St. Louis/Scott AFB area). I just got back from a deployment and now I'm on a long TDY. My wife and I also just had a kid a few months ago. So with all this and what I see in my future, I've come to the realization that I have basically zero time to work on my car.

Does anybody have any recommendations for shops in my area? Once I get back next month I plan to begin visiting shops and meeting owners/managers/mechanics. I'm looking to install a modern manual trans, swap the rear end, swap to discs, replace some harnesses, and have some dash work done just to begin with. Some of this I could do myself, but like I said, I just don't have the time these days. I'm not looking for body/paint work.

I've already heard about Precision restoration, Vermillion classic works, Sparks speed shop, V8 speed and resto, and Creative customs chop shop. I've heard and found nothing about any of them except for some negative stuff about Precision. I've talked to the owners of the first two.

If you have any info about any reputable shops in my area please let me know. If you have any info (positive or negative) on any of the shops listed please let me know. If an FBBO admin thinks this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it and let me know :eusa_doh:

Thanks!

Well I researched tons of shops around here and St. Louis. I eliminated about 8 shops and was left with 3: Vermillion, Schaefer, and V8 Speed and Resto. I decided on V8 based on rates, shop quality, reputation, etc. It's only about 25 min down the road in Red Bud which is nice. But I will take a look at Troy.
