I've been searching around to see if anyone has tried to refinish the wood grain on the 71 through 74 - bezel. It looks like the way they were done is to paint it black first and then painted brown on top? Maybe air brush? I was thinking of spraying a satin clear over mine it's not in too bad a shape. Any thoughts? I did not want to send it out. I am replacing it with one that is not hacked up from a radio install. The frame behind it too. Also can it be done without pulling the entire dash out?

Drop the column.

...and be careful where the cluster wants to pivot against the bottom of the metal dash, real easy to scratch it up there.

IIRC a member repainted his and it turned out pretty good.

I've got a vent panel that has a bad spot and needs repainted but that's a back burner project.
