so, i sold my last classic era Mopar in the spring of 2002, to embark on a misguided adventure into "import tuning" and after 12 plus years of that B.S. ive decided to go back to my roots.

the first thing that happened, was that i received a call in March of this year from a mopar friend that purchased my U code 70 Cuda in 2002, he started asking questions about a 440 block that he had in his inventory.

after a few minutes of discussion, this engine sounded very familiar, its along story, but he said that he thought the block was junk, and was about to scrap it, i stated that id like to see it before he dose.

upon inspection i realized that this was the first 440 that i ever built, as a budding 19 yr old Dodge apprentice technician almost 25 yrs ago!

my hommie robbed the internals, and i retrieved the block.

Coincidentally, a guy that i work with had a 65 coronet Post sedan, that he has been working on since 2000 or so, manual trans car, reverse lamp delete! quite possibly the CHEAPEST mopar ive ever seen! at 2200 MSRP when new, the original owner must have been a thrifty MOFO!

he recently decided to bail on the project to help his son pursue a moto cross career, so this was my chance to get back into the game!

the planets have aligned, and mother mopar had given my a 6th change at big block Mopar power!

plan of attack:

stock stroke 440 with 850 holley, M1 single plane, 440 source heads with comp roller rockers, and extreme energy cam

TKO 600 trans, ram twin plate clutch, 3;55 gears.

Max wedge OE manifolds with TTi 3 inch exhaust.

maybe some AC too!

Good luck with it. Keep us updated on the project and keep pictures coming.

Welcome from PA. Looks and sounds to be a cool project, and the car body looks to be in decent shape too. Keep us posted with more pictures and progress!

Great to have you back and I have a 65 -500 4 speed car can not wait for the weekend to roll it out and run it

thanks to all for the warm welcome.

this girl needs a floor pan, and a couple of places roughed out, but i think it will be a sweet ride one day. at least as its all apart, there are no surprises.

theres a place out here called Cal-blast that dose Soda blasting, that is this cars next stop, then the frame shop for a quick squaring up, then a floor pan install.

hopefully the black friday deals are steep this year and i can get the engine back together quick.
