I just read that Montreal Canadiens goalie Ken Dryden passed away at 78. That is only 7 years older than me. I can still picture him leaning on his goalie stick when the play was at the other end of the ice.

He was an Awesome Tender, and watched him many evenings back in the times of Hockey Night in Canada, on Network TV. We were close enough to the Border here, to pick it up on our roof top antenna. RIP Ken...

RIP......... those mid 70s Canadian teams were awesome......... then Edmonton happened

A classic Hockey great who played the game as it was meant to be. He was a thorn in the butt for the Chicago Blackhawks!!! RIP Ken...cr8crshr/Bill:praying::praying::praying::usflag::usflag::usflag:

Montreal had a player nicknamed "the Road Runner" .......

the internet is incredible sometimes

Yvan Serge Cournoyer (born November 22, 1943) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens for 16 seasons, from 1963 to 1978, winning the Stanley Cup 10 times. In 1972, Cournoyer scored the tying goal in the deciding eighth game of the Canada-USSR series with seven minutes remaining. Canada went on to win the game and the series on Paul Henderson's dramatic goal with 34 seconds left in the game.

Cournoyer was born in Drummondville, Quebec. He was nicknamed "The Roadrunner" due to his small size and blazing speed, which he credited to longer blades on his skates. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1982. In 2017 Cournoyer was named one of the '100 Greatest NHL Players' in history.[1]

His height and athleticism changed goaltending. Walked away from hockey on top. RIP

I was 9/10 when the Broad Street Bullies won back to back cups and made hockey extremely popular here for decades after...... they lost to Montreal in '76 going for the 3peat ......... Reggie Leach was MVP despite being on the losing side. I remember pretty much all of it
