RO/WO Hood Scoop post

What has everyone used for a center support post in their hood scoops? I have an R0/WO style scoop on my 67' Belvedere. Its fine except on single lane highways when a semi blows by me the other way it sure make that scoop flutter more then I like.

I have always made mine out of small aluminum tubing from McMaster Carr. They even offer polished aluminum.

1/4" x 20 SS Carriage bolt through the tube?? Maybe a little to big.

Elevator bolt mold into underside of scoop then fitted thru aluminum tubing with stainless washer on top and bottom of tube
Using these concave washers with rubber on one side
