i have seen a few factory big block 73-74 roadrunners with the big gaping hole in the passenger side inner fender, why is it so different from the factory small block inner fender? will there be issues putting a big block in a small block car without changing this?

What hole? I swapped a 440 into my 73 runner and didn't have an issue. What did I miss?

I have the same swap. 440 into small block inner fender 73 RR. The larger cut out allows easier access to the spark plugs through the opening.
Its very tight to get the plugs in with the small block steup with TTI headers

This inner fender is from a big block 400 Satellite Sebring I parted out.You can see the large opening.

This pic shows my 1974 Plymouth Satellite factory small block 318 it only has the small opening. If you look closely you can see that the big blocks hit the passengers side inner fender when put into a small block cars.

How much do you want for that inner fender in the photo graph of the big block satellite ? is it from a 73
Thanks Ralph

I'll have to dig it out and look it over,it's sat for a few years.I'll be in the U.S.A all weekend so it will have to wait untill Monday.PM me on Monday or I'll forget.

What is used to cover the hole in the BB app? Metal panel, rubber splash shield, combo?

Year one seels a splash shield made of rubber I believe with the correct attachment clips

how bad does it hit when you put a big block into a small block car? anyone know?

Someone put a 383 in my factory 318 '74 SE.

They beat down that area pretty bad to clear the "log" style manifold.

I had no idea inner fenders were different between BB and SB cars.

Now I know, and know why.

For the record, my plans are to put a late model "magnum" 5.2 FI w/OD trans in.

More net HP that any available "74 motor except the 440, better mileage and reliability to boot.

Plus, it will still be a 318 car.

My 383 headers dont hit, but as far a changing the plugs...fuggeddabbout it! Major P.I.T.A!
