Tim Allen paid tribute to his ex Saturday The last man standing co-star Robert Forster, who died on Friday at the age of 78.

"Very sad about Robert's death, it was a gift for me personally and an emotional part of our show. Prayers and condolences to his beautiful wife and family," Allen tweeted.

Nancy Travis, who plays Vanessa Baxter in the series, also mentioned Forster on social media.

"A really talented actor and one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. RIP Robert ”, Travis written on Twitter Friday.

Forster died at his Los Angeles home following a brief battle against brain cancer. He played Allen's widowed father, Bud Baxter, in The last man standing and starred in 10 episodes of the series. His last appearance in the comedy, which now airs on Fox after a transition from ABC, was in 2018.

During his ten-year career, Forster has appeared in over 100 films, including Netflix El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.

He received an Oscar nomination for his work as Max Cherry in Quentin Tarantino Jackie Brown.

Born in Rochester, New York, Forster graduated from the University of Rochester and then moved to New York City. He worked on Broadway before switching to film and TV.
