Stuck at work on my week of nights; 7pm to 7am. Read all the interesting posts & still bored. Any way, Going to see Robin Trower Tuesday night in Boise. Can`t believe that guy is still kickin out the electric blues. He will be 66 on Wednesday ! I hope he opens with Bridge of Sighs,Lady Love, Too Rolling Stoned or anything of that 72-77 era. Anybody other than me like Robin ? Anybody else ever hear of him ? Kind of funny who gets airplay & who stays in the cult following status. Don.

Yeah! Saw Robin in the 70's. Have a couple on CD now.
Had tickets for House of Blues 2 yrs ago but he got the flu and never rescheduled.
He has talent. Kinda nice to see guys play to small clubs for $25 instead of payin
$75 or more to sit in nose bleed sections of arenas U can't even see who is on stage.

I have most of his music.....yeah, he's good!

The only singer he had who was any good was James Dewar. Not too thrilled with Davey Pattison or Jack Bruce. BTW, I have Victims of the Fury is playing in the background.

James Dewar was the best with Robin Trower, hands down.

Oh yeah, good stuff! My employee told me the other day he was playing at the Filmore in SF but it was on the day of the show and I already had somewhere to go that night :sad7: Had I know earlier...

Back when I actually tried to play guitar, I could do about 2/3 of "Day of the eagle". Man that is a BUSY rhythm line!

Agree completely. Pattison is not passionate about what he`s doing. But that said, it was a fabulous experience. Robin played most of the oldies. 2-3 times he played about 4 bars of the opening to "Bridge of Sighs" & then seemed to laugh a little, guess he was teasing us. His best tunes of the night had to be "Lady Love" & "Too Rolling Stoned."Strangely enough, he did not play "Spellbound" or "Victims of the Fury." A true master of his craft.
But the best was last. I had been told ahead of time he would be signing CDs & posters after the show. So my buddy & I hung out in line. After about 20 minutes he came out smiling, talking with everybody, posing for cellphone pix,& signing any and everything you had. Hell, as corny as it sounds, I even got to shake hands with him. I asked him if he had ever blown up a Marshall. He stopped in mid autograph & laughed. Said he had about 35 years ago. I added that I had been in St. Louis at Kiel Auditorium when he did it. He smiled & asked if we had enjoyed the show. We assured him we had enjoyed ALL of his shows we`d seen. If only the other musicians were that in tune to their fans. The man truly loves what he does, and appreciates his fans. Who else of his status would perform the day before their 66th birthday ? Happy B-Day Robin ! Don.
