Rust on top quarter buttress 1966 charger.

I have a 1966 Charger with some minor rust. Floors, dash, cowl area, fenders all good. One quarter has a spot I need to cut out and the drivers door has a spot as well. Fairly easy places to repair. A couple spots have me concerned. Above the sail panel on the narrow buttress area between the rear window and the sail panel I have a couple rust through spots. The metal seems pretty thin in this area. I picked out all the obvious rust with a body hammer. It is a very odd place for holes. Anyone else have this issue and what was your fix? Thanks.

It's not unusual from my experience.
It's a tricky area to weld because of the proximity of body lead.
I hit lead and might have actually added some lead when I fixed some holes in the channel IIRC.
Do the best you can.
I'm a big believer in Rustoleum rusty metal primer to keep rust from coming back.
I sandblasted the hinge and other things.
The strangest place I found pin hole rust was level with the trunk extensions just aft of the wheel housings. On both sides.
You know these cars usually rust out low on the quarters. Not up high. But it was solid down low where you would expect to find "road rash".
