self adjusting brakes

On my 70 Sat i opened up my front drum brakes. Someone else has been in there and totally removed the self adjusting mechanisms.
Is it anything to be concerned about

Self adjusters were an option. The shop manual shows both set-ups.

If I recall'63 was the 1st year for self-adjusting feature. When I bought my '63 Fury some 20 years ago it didn't have the adjusters and the car stopped like crap weaving as brakes were uneven. I installed the adjusters, not a big job, and made a huge difference. Last year I converted to front disks and braking ability is like night and day.

No, just that you'll have to adjust them manually. I used to do these by ear.

Just adjust your rears when you change your oil. Keeps them at a good range.
