Self-install convertible top?

Here in the Peoples Republic, Portland OR shops want $22-2400 to replace the top on my 63 SF vert. . No extra work; the mechanism is perfect. So... I think i shall try myself. Maybe with a semi-pro helper. Advice please!
PS: Did all 63s use the stapling trim strips? The previous owner didn't and screwed the top down.
 
This is info I’m trying to figure out myself. From what I’ve seen the top is screwed down. Did you take apart and take pictures along the way?
