Yeah,it sucks....I work for cal trans and we get alot of heat that we don,t deserve..This has been going on for years...Out sourcing is common in the state...It,s like the new highway ramp they are building through the presidio...They said we are gonna get the local communities back to work...Hell all the workers are from out of state!!!It,s all a scam...The ivy league rulers are the ones getting rich!!Do you think the queen of calif(witman)spent 125 million of her own dough for nothing?Nope she,ll get that back and more!!!Shes a business woman,hides most of her money in foreign bank accounts..So she doesn,t have to pay taxes...She hasn,t even voted in calif in 26 years!!!WE are screwed man!!!!Thanks for letting me vent alex!!

Don,t trust the cal trans engineers...Most of them are from foreign countries and just have to have a bullshit degree and take a bone head test to get the job...Any good engineer will be working in the private sector were they get decent pay!!!Remember when a chunk of steel fell from the bay bridge a few years ago!!!

So the Inspection Team that pointed out the flaws has been replaced? WTF?!!!!! Now some lackey/yes-man/whatever can just nod his freakin' head and say "Yes Sir;those welds are fine. The Chinese assured(and you can't spell "assured" without "A-S-S") me that they were...".

There are so many other points in that article that I could rant on;you guys are sharp enough to see them and comment. I put in 12 hour shifts this week,am working tomorrow,and working 12hrs. Monday. Ain't bitchin',just tired. Later.
 
The politicians are killing this country and I'm talking about both sides of the bench but it seems the liberals are more ok with it....and the grunts just keep getting kicked down. You should read up on what happened with the Fred Hartman bridge here in SE Texas. It took them nearly 10 years to build that freak. The steel came from Africa and all the pre drilled holes were in the wrong place plus there was a question about the steel. Welcome to America boys....
 
We have a 21 million dollar bridge in SoCal that is for the H.O.V. lane only and had to be redone to the tune of 42 million! Oh and by the way a private firm did that. California government is f-ed it makes Az more enticing day by day.

I told my wife last night that I'm glad that I'll only be around for another 40 good years. Of course she gave me a bunch of crap, but hey, let's get realistic here. Look at the crap that's going on now. Steel from China?!?!?!?!?!? What about all the old steel mills that are abandoned!!!! My old boss bought a marble driveway from China last year - WTF!!

I told my wife, the way the U.S. is being run, and how "we" allow millions to come over and live, 20 years from now I truly believe majority of Americans will have to live in fear everyday.

The biggest scary fact there is - most Americans trust our Politicians! They don't know our Government is buying steel from China. Don't know what most of the "bills" comprise of. Come on....

If people paid as much attention to Politics as they do sports, it would be completely different right now.

I'm scared for my kids and future grandkids............. This world according to Mike- I approve this message.!
 
Hey This country is F**cked up I saw this coming in 1980 when a illegal was hired over me because of his culture. I earned a college degree he had nothing and I am talking designing Trident Missle ticker tape machines no, radio communications, in the field for Go No Go launches. So Duck!!!
 
I hear ya loud and clear boys! While China and India are slowly becoming the manufacturing base for the world, America is becoming a place to eat and sleep. Everything that made this country great is being forced overseas by our "brilliant" rulers - and yes that's from both sides of the aisle.

The Bay Bridge story gets better. This "signature tower" isn't even functional!!! It's purely decoration that puts CA further behind schedule and a few more million in the hole.
 
i moved out of CA and headed CO in 2006, the brigde was supposed to be complete years befor I left.

I bet the "shop prime" on the steel is lead based also! :icon_hang:

Being a trained welder, and being held to standard to make a perfect weld numerous times, and, failing numerous times, I can say that wherever I go, I notice welds, and crappy one's infuriate me!
