Does anyone have a supplier for seat track studs? I picked up a 6 way seat but all the studs to hold it to the floor are broken off. In the past I would tack weld a bolt in place. Was hoping to find something more like the originals.
Thanks,
Mark

Studs

When I restore seat tracks I use 5/16th`s x 2 inch, carriage bolts, that I get at the local hardware store. Clean off the head of the broken stud & the hole remaining in the bracket is square & the bolt just below the cap is a perfect fit. Just drop it in & a couple mig weld tacks & black paint on the cap & it looks great. :icon_thumleft: Hope this was helpful.

That is called a carriage bolt, which is what I was going say is the ideal 'fix'.

Thanks for the response guys,
I had considered carriage bolts but thought they might not be as good a grade as the original studs.

I use the same bolt, but made a swage tool that smashes the square portion of the carriage bolt into the square hole. The result is exactly like the factory did it. I also take the heads of the carriage bolts and turn them on a lathe to make them look like the factory bolt. You would need access to an arbor press to do the swaging operation.

In the end if you aren't looking for an original look, go with the carriage bolt and a tack weld. It's a lot more accessible. Over the years I've done about 5 - 6 sets of seat tracks, so it was worth my effort to make the tool (which is really simple)....plus I have access to the arbor press at work.
