Been working on my 1973 coronet on the dash again and all of a sudden driving down the road the speedometer goes crazy I think it's the cable but before I dig back in to the dash I just want to make sure that's what it is thanks for the help

Yep, Just a dry cable.Disconnect under the dash and pull the cable out of the sheath up and out.It has a flange at the top so you can't remove it from the trans side.Clean the cable.A speedometer shop said to use Vaseline petroleum jelly as a lube.(Been using it for years now and works great) ALSO you will find a brass bushing in the speedometer head where the cable attaches, rub some lube there also before attaching the cable to the head.

Thanks man I ll see what that does

they make a special speedometer lube try the dealer, also if its bent a certain way it may jump. most likely its dry that will make it stick,
