Starter for 1970 GTX 440

Factory starter? Yup. A starter for a high performance car might be a higher horse power starter so the body of the starter might be a bit longer but never had a problem with the shorter starters with the higher compression engines.

Hey Vaanth, why did you delete that chart??

Yeah, had it long enough to date two of the rebuilt starters that I have, but got what I needed.
Thank you!

Will a Starter for - 1965-1968, 1970-1974 Plymouth Satellite work for my GTX?

The listed Chrysler starters will fit the 1970 GTX with a 440, with some exceptions such as the direct drive starters used on a slant six with heavy duty manual transmission or 1966 - 1968 426 Hemi with manual transmission.

The following table lists the Chrysler gear reduction part numbers, variations, and production dates. These starters all interchange physically with different internal electrical and mechanical parameters, performance, and one external size difference. The listing is for original starters as originally built. Remanufactured starters can have mixed components, but the fit and interchange is the same. For more information, see Chrysler Gear Reduction Starters.
